Do You Run Your Water Piping to failure?
Do you run your water piping to failure?

Using untreated water with steel pipe will get you there quickly.
This pipe spool was removed from a high-point vertical dead leg on a water service line operating at 2,200 psi.
Carbon steel is often the first casualty, but stainless steel is not immune. Elevated chloride levels, stagnant conditions, and microbial activity can lead to pitting and crevice corrosion, even in stainless systems.
These damaged piping systems frequently develop leaks at the 6 o'clock position, where water, solids, and corrosion products accumulate and create localized attack. In dead legs and low-flow areas, wall loss can progress unnoticed until a leak occurs.
Material selection and water treatment matter. Galvanized steel, composite piping, or hybrid solutions can provide improved performance in many process water applications. Proper water chemistry control and a simple biocide program can go a long way toward reducing internal corrosion and fouling.
